Kara and Brandon met at Willamette through their community of friends, love for the outdoors, and work as resident assistants. Immediately after Willamette they entered a year of service with Lutheran Volunteer Corps, where Brandon taught video production as a tool for social change in Chicago and Kara worked in refugee resettlement in Minneapolis.
In 2010, they returned to Seattle and were married. Brandon is a video producer for All of Kidz, a company that creates educational theater performances for elementary school students nationwide. To deliver more socially conscious educational programs, he often introduces topics of race and gender for deeper critical reflection.
Kara serves as director of community engagement at the University of Washington Bothell, leading the institution to more proficiently educate students, engage faculty and deepen community impact through community-based learning and research. Kara rigorously engages in her development as a leader and strives to develop leadership in others.
Ardent fans of the Northwest, Brandon and Kara appreciate deep friendships with other Willamette alums in the area.
They credit Willamette friends, faculty, staff and community for having helped shape their lives and outlook.
