As an immigrant, the guiding ethos of Luis Guerra’s professional life is to support and be in solidarity with the immigrant community. After graduating from Willamette, he worked for Causa, Oregon’s immigrant rights organization, in a variety of roles and ultimately, as its interim executive director. He then joined the staff of the United Farm Workers Foundation and helped it grow into one of the largest and most successful legal services immigration programs in the country.

Luis now serves as strategic capacity officer for the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc., where he has helped create a legal support infrastructure at the U.S.-Mexico border to serve asylum seekers. Luis led development of the Border Rights Project based in Tijuana, Mexico that has served thousands of asylum seekers by leveraging the power of volunteers.

Luis holds a double major in international studies and Spanish with a minor in Latin American studies. He is married to fellow classmate, Angela Fujii '11.
